Earn Industry Certifications

Basic Life Support, CPR, Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, EKG Technician

Work as a Registered Medical Assistant

Students in  the level 3 "Registered Medical Assistant Practicum" course will have the opportunity to do a spring rotation with Mercy Hospital. They will gain hands-on workplace experience, as well as  get certified as a Registered Medical Assistant. This is a great opportunity for any student looking to pursue a career in the medical field.

Coach Smith (Jr. High Health Science)

Coach Smith graduated from Oklahoma State University and the University of Arkansas with degrees in Food Science and Kinesiology. He has been in education for 9 years and has taught numerous courses, including: Biology, AP Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Physical Science, 8th grade Science, Foundations of Healthcare, and Health.

When asked what he loves about his pathway he said, "it is essential to teach people basic understanding of the human body."

Fun Facts: Coach Smith's wife, Jamie, is an elementary teacher in Rogers. He also serves as the Pea Ridge JV Girls Basketball Coach.

  • Participate in running two blood drives: fall and spring
  • Attend the spring leadership conference in Hot Springs and compete in different HOSA events
  • Winning at state level could lead to travel at national conferences!
  • Network and connect with industry professionals and like minded students at state and national events
  • Long term and home assistance company visits each spring
